2013

2013 is the year of the cryptocalypse. The Snowden documents not only have shown that the NSA (and all the other secret services) is analysing and storing massive amounts of the whole Internet communication. But they are also capable to break or circumvent a wide range of encrypted communication.

Strong and secure encryption will play a very important role in the future Internet and all communication. The innocent early times of unencrypted Internet will look ridicolous to us in some years.

Pretty Good Privacy is an open source program to encrypt email in a compelx mathematical process. It involves a private and a public key for each user. The public key needs to be public to receive a message and is often downloadable from public servers .The displayed code is the public key for bartholl at datenform de and can be used to send an encrypted message to this adress. PGP was created by Phil Zimmermann in 1991.
